ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, AH 65-86 / AD 685-705. Pashiz (Bronze, 18 mm, 0.72 g, 1 h), Arab-Sasanian type, citing the governor Kahlid ibn 'Abbad, Tanbuk, circa AH 80 = AD 700. Crowned and draped Sasanian-style bust facing; to left, 'AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); to right, 'Khalid ibn Abbad' ('in Arabic). Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; in field to left, illegible legend in Pahlawi; in field to right, name of the mint (TNBK or TNBT in Pahlawi). Album N42. Gyselen 58. Extremely rare. Struck from worn dies, otherwise, fair.
